Welcome to the LC! food review.  Your guide to the best places to eat on tour.

Montreal, as everyone is aware, is french.  So thats why we decided to go a tapas bar in the venue La Sala Rosa!  La Sala Rosa is a Spanish centre in Montreal with a venue upstairs and a tapas bar downstairs.  So we avoided the steak frites and decided to go to a place where as performers you get a special deal.

I had fried chorizo and a tortilla.  Let me make this very clear, this ain’t your typical tapas.  Two plates, possibly even one, would be enough.  This was “North America Tapas” where the portions were four times the size of a tapas dish in Barcelona.

The chorizo was very juicy with a nice red wine and garlic sauce which was perfect for dipping bread in.  The chorizo was slightly spicy, possibly could have done with a bit more kick to it but apart from that it was very nice.  The tortilla was ever so slightly over cooked but it contained big bits of potato and onion, which allowed for plenty of different textures.

The service wasn’t the best.  I’m not sure if it was because we didn’t speak French.

Dishes were normally around the $10 mark but as performers we got two dishes for that price which fed me amply.

Tomorrow we review food in Toronto.  Plus i will try and add photos!

Hi Ollie, did Ellen share any of the bagels I gave her at the end of the Montreal gig?
